Service Lateral Dye Testing Program

Since the Summer of 1997, MTSA has undertaken a service lateral Dye Test Program. The Authority has a scheduled maintenance program where Authority personnel inspect and dye test the storm water system of its customers. This program has been initiated as part of the Authority's over all system rehabilitation program to take all possible steps to eliminate illegal inflow and infiltration to the sanitary sewer system.

Because of the vast area of inspection and testing required, Authority has two full-time dye test crews performing these duties.

The Authority has also initiated a second more intense program, wherein personnel perform an inside inspection of the plumbing systems of homes that are being sold. This inspection is to insure that no internal illegal connections exist such as french drains or sump pumps.
