GIS/GPS Mapping

The McCandless Township Sanitary Authority has a state-of-the-art Global Information System. This system is a computerized mapping program that has numerous "layers" of information, which include extensive data concerning the Authority's collection system of sewers. This database was designed and implemented by Authority personnel. The Authority utilizes two portable GPS locator loggers and the Authority's base station unit in developing these layers of information. This Authority program has become renowned throughout Allegheny County and has been used as a model to other communities.
